Mickey Strader
Inducted March 31,2007
Commentary
Mickey Strader has been a very active part of NCBA for the past 18 years. I've known Mickey for 8 years. We hunt together in North Carolina.
Mickey has contributed three years to NCBA as an elected officer and many more as a working NCBA volunteer. And, in my opinion, he has brought many things to NCBA, through his work with local chapter clubs that none before him have ever done. Mickey is a very fair-minded and level-headed individual. He doesn't make hasty, ill-though-out decisions. He is a stabilizing force on the NCBA Executive Council. His current position as Vice President brings stable and trusted leadership to NCBA. He doesn't play favorites with people or issues.
The highlight of Mickey's tenure as Vice President of NCBA and as a NCBA member is his SERVICE and dedication to the sport of bowhunting over the past 18 years. No one will ever know, or realize how much time Mickey spends educating and introducing children and adults as well to the sport of archery, but it adds up to "thousands" of hours per year and also thousands of miles on his vehicles. (See attached documentation.) This is not to mention how much monetary and material contributions Mickey makes out of the goodness of his heart and pocket as well.
But, most important of all, Mickey Strader is a true volunteer. He always puts the job at hand.. the objective, the association and the sport of Bowhunting first and foremost before himself, and many times before his family. We continue to need more people like Mickey Strader in the NCBA. He deserves the recognition of the bowhunting community, and that is why I am nominating him for election to the N.C. Bowhunter Hall of Fame.
